AEF Launches Newsletter to Share Activities and Acknowledge Donors

Welcome to the first edition of the Aldine Education Foundation DreamCatcher, a newsletter sharing information about the activities of the Foundation and how your donations are impacting the lives of students and the work of teachers in the Aldine Independent School District.

Thanks to our generous donors, the Foundation’s inaugural year was a resounding success, bringing in over $732,000 in grants and contributions to foster educational excellence and provide student scholarships. We funded five grants for innovative classroom programs and awarded scholarships to 139 Aldine students!

Year Two officially began with our Second Annual Campaign Kick-Off Breakfast last September, and we are already off to an amazing start! Check out our story about the 2013 Surprise Grant Posse, which rode into eight schools on Dec. 13 and delivered over $31,000 in grants to fund innovative classroom projects.

Also in this issue, you’ll hear from a student who found himself on the wrong side of the law until a determined guidance counselor and a scholarship opened a door he never thought possible for himself. You’ll learn how easy it is to have such a significant impact on young lives year after year via an endowed scholarship. You’ll also see articles about upcoming activities of the Foundation, and ways you can help fulfill the dreams of students and reward the innovation of teachers by supporting these activities.

We hope you enjoy this issue, and we hope to bring you future issues each January, May and September. We welcome your feedback and your ideas for future articles. Please send comments to Judy Hoya.

Happy reading!
