Foundation Seeks Scholarship Applicants

Graduating seniors have until April 7 to apply for the second round of scholarships funded by the Aldine Education Foundation (AEF). This year, thanks to a consolidated process, only one application need be completed whether the student is seeking Aldine Scholarship Foundation funds for Lone Star College or AEF funds for any other school in the nation.

A primary goal of the Aldine Education Foundation is providing scholarships for deserving high schools seniors to attend the university, college, community college, or technical school of their choice. The AEF is in its second year of awarding scholarships to graduating seniors of Aldine ISD’s seven high schools. Last year, 35 scholarships were awarded by AEF to students attending the University of Houston, University of Texas, Texas A & M, Sam Houston State University, the University of Houston – Downtown and many other colleges, both in state and out.

This year, the Aldine Scholarship Foundation’s scholarships to Lone Star College will be awarded through AEF using AEF’s application. Students may restrict their application to Lone Star College or designate it unrestricted and name their first and second choice schools, including Lone Star. Last year, 102 scholarships were awarded to Aldine ISD high school seniors to attend Lone Star College.

The application can be accessed on our website. Applications may also be obtained through senior counselors in each high school.

The application must be returned to the senior counselors by April 7, 2014.

Each application will be read and scored by three readers, using a method which will address grades, leadership, participation in school activities, honors received, volunteer hours, financial need, and other criteria. Seniors will be notified by senior counselors in May of scholarship awards.

Donations for scholarships may be made directly through our website or by contacting the Aldine Education Foundation via email or at (281) 985-6078.
