AEF, ASF award 264 scholarships to AISD seniors
Two hundred-sixty-four Aldine ISD seniors received the opportunity to continue their academic careers by receiving either Aldine Education Foundation (AEF) or Aldine Scholarship Fund (ASF) scholarships during an awards ceremony on May 11 at the M.O. Campbell Educational Center.
AEF, incorporated in 2012 to enable more Aldine ISD students to receive financial support for college, to provide additional choices for college and to award grants to teachers for innovative classroom instruction.
ASF, now under the direction of the Lone Star College Foundation, has a permanent endowment totaling more than $2 million, which sends AISD students to Lone Star College.
During the ceremony, AEF awarded 135 scholarships and 129 AISD seniors received ASF scholarships.
Prior to the awarding of the scholarships, former AEF recipient Carlos Galvan addressed this year’s recipients. The audience was also addressed by Aldine ISD Superintendent Dr. Wanda Bamberg, who provided the Superintendent’s Challenge, and Dr. Gerald Napoles, president of Lone Star College-North Harris. AEF President Bill Ginder delivered the welcome and Seth Sharr, AEF and Lone Star College Foundation board member, delivered closing remarks.
AISD seniors who received $5,000 AEF scholarships were Brittany Baker of Carver High School, Jazmirra Charleston of Nimitz High School, George Nyakwol of Eisenhower High School, Rosa Betancourt of MacArthur High School, Lisa Duong of Aldine High School, Luis Ramirez of Hall Center for Education, Noreis Cao of Davis High School and Jose Flores Rodriguez of Victory Early College High School.
AISD seniors who received $1,000 AEF scholarships were Kate’Lynn Anderson of Eisenhower High School, Steven Mendoza of Aldine High School, Gabriela Ortega of MacArthur High School, Kelechi Iheanacho of Nimitz High School, Amy Nguyen of Davis High School, Breanna Shannon of Hall Center for Education, Juan Mendez of Carver High School and Tom Nguyen of Victory Early College High School.
The following AISD seniors received AEF Golf Tournament scholarships: Bobbie Gutierrez of MacArthur High School, Kassandra Gonzalez of Aldine High School, Bryant Acosta of MacArthur High School, Ana Aranda of Aldine High School and Nia Collier of Victory Early College High School. The AEF Golf Tournament Scholarships were funded by Platinum Sponsors Barcelona Sports, Molina Walker Almaguer Architects, Morris Architects, Caldwell Companies and Stanton Engineering Group.
AISD seniors who received AEF Aldine ISD Board of Trustees Endowed Scholarships were Rafael Aguilar of MacArthur High School, Leslie Interiano of Aldine High School and Jose Mendez of Victory Early College High School. Sydney Brown of Davis High School received the Aldine ISD Council of PTAs Scholarship and AISD seniors Kiara Johnson of Davis High School and Jessica Vallejo of MacArthur High School received the Aldine ISD Early Childhood/Pre-K Programs Endowed Scholarships.

Jaylen Samuels of Davis High School received the AEF CenterPoint Energy Scholarship, Teresa Suastes-Rosales of Aldine High School received the AEF Jan DeBlance Endowed Scholarship, and Lister Debinya of Carver High School received the AEF Joey Doyle Endowed Scholarship.
MacArthur High School seniors Brianna Callaway, Matthew Hastings, Brianna Luna, Deise Ferrara, Jada Haynes, Karina Puente, Chelsea Gray, Cameron Hordge and Alejandro Rodriguez each received the AEF East Aldine District Endowed Scholarships.
Xaveir Sells of Nimitz High School received the AEF Anne-Marie Hazzan Endowment given by Caldwell Companies. Jesstyne Cadena of MacArthur High School, Yasmine Montes of Davis High School, Erika Ramos of Eisenhower High School, Victoria Favela of Davis High School, Cecilia Nguyen of Victory Early College High School and Dontre Simon of Davis High School received the AEF H-E-B Tournament of Champions Scholarships. The Nguyen of Davis High School received the AEF Marine Jones Endowed Scholarship.
Thirty-five AISD seniors received $2,000 AEF Noble Drilling Scholarships. Nimitz High School seniors Osiriz Campos, Russell Hardy, Laura Santos, Nelson Castillo, Mary Harrington, Mohammad Zahir, Quadrey El-Shabazz, Brandon Jenkins, Majesty Flores and Jahron Parrish each received the AEF WCA Waste Corporation of Texas Scholarships.
AISD seniors Alex Elizondo of Carver High School, Esmeralda Mata of Nimitz High School, Kelly Victory Aldine High School, Catherine Ewing of Eisenhower High School, Meagan Nealy of MacArthur High School, Darrian Walker of Davis High School, Joanna Jimenez of Victory Early College High School and Carolina Saenz of Hall Center for Education each received AEF Noble Drilling Scholars Scholarships. These students received $20,000 scholarships over four years.
