Golf Tournament Sets Record for Funds Raised

For its fifth annual Golf Tournament, Aldine Education Foundation named the event in honor of former Aldine ISD superintendent, M.B. “Sonny” Donaldson. He has served as the event’s honorary chair since its inception and was thrilled to be a permanent part of the Foundation’s efforts to raise funds for Aldine ISD student scholarships and teacher grants.

Held on Friday, October 26 at the Oakhurst Golf Club in Porter, TX, the Sonny Donaldson Golf Tournament proved to be as sunny as its namesake. Clear skies and crisp temperatures welcomed the 120+ golfers there in support of the District. They joined Title Sponsor WCA to ensure the Foundation increases its support of Aldine ISD.

Aldine Education Foundation board president Richard Cantu thanked all in attendance for their generosity, noting, “All sponsors, teams, and players made this our biggest year yet. Together we’ve raised more than $80,000 for scholarships and grants. We truly appreciate your participation and hope you will continue to support this deserving school district.”

Joining Title Sponsor WCA were Platinum Sponsors Caldwell Companies, Molina Walker Almaguer Architects, Stanley Spurling & Hamilton, and Stanton Engineering. Breakfast and Lunch Sponsors were Harris County Department of Education/Choice Partners and Bracewell, respectively. Gold Sponsors included Barcelona Sports, IDG Architects, Prologis, Solid IT Networks, and JR Thomas Group. Silver Sponsors were East Aldine District, Edgenuity, US Representative Gene Green, HTS Consultants, InvesTex Credit Union, Loop Capital Markets, Martinez Architects, Piper Jaffray & Co., Tandus Centiva, and Wells Fargo Securities. Exclusive Hole Sponsors included Raba Kistner, Raising Cane’s, and Thompson & Horton. Additionally, 42 campuses also contributed to the success of this year’s tournament as school hole sponsors.

Enjoying the bragging rights of first place in tournament play were the HTS Consultants team members Freddie Brooks, Fritz Greer, and Landon Ewing with a score of 56.

Golf Tournament committee chair Sidney Brewer was ecstatic with the turnout and results of Aldine Education Foundation’s biggest fundraising event. He is already working to plan for another great golf outing in 2019. We hope you will be a part of it.
