AEF Golf Tournament raises more than $55,000

aef-golf-2016-featuredThe third annual AEF (Aldine Education Foundation) Golf Tournament raised more than $55,000, shattering the previous high of $42,000 raised by the tournament in 2015.

The tournament was held at Oakhurst Golf Club and attracted 115 golfers and 29 teams.

Former Aldine ISD Superintendent M.B. “Sonny” Donaldson served as the tournament’s honorary chairman.

“It was a beautiful day for golf, but beyond the great weather and fun, these players and our sponsors helped raise more than $55,000 for Aldine ISD student scholarships and teacher grants,” said AEF Director Michele McGovern. “Our committee and volunteers ensured everyone had an amazing experience and the positive impact of this event will live long beyond this one day.”

The tournament was sponsored by a number of area businesses.

The team of M.B. “Sonny” Donaldson, Alex Jordan, Terrell Palmer and Trent Peddy finished in second place.

The team of Joe LaBauve, Brian Jenkins, Roy Sprague and Stuart Snow finished in third place.

The closest to the pin contest was won by Julie Nash in the female division and Daniel Lastrape in the male division.

The longest drive was won by Cathy Roach in the female division and Chris Koeper in the male division.

Sidney Brewer served as chairman of the golf tournament committee.

The money raised from the event will go to fund AEF scholarships for Aldine ISD seniors and to provide classroom grants for Aldine ISD teachers.
