Aldine Education Foundation, Lone Star Foundation Receive $20,000 From District

Aldine ISD provided a gift of $10,000 to the Aldine Education Foundation and $10,000 to the Lone Star College Foundation for a total of $20,000 toward student scholarships. Both organizations support Aldine ISD students with much-needed college scholarships to help them pursue their dreams.

“By ensuring the students of Aldine ISD have a good education, the Aldine Education Foundation is offering opportunities for a brighter and more prosperous future. A good education can open doors and take students anywhere. The gift of higher education impacts students and their families for generations to come. We are thrilled to help support the work of the foundations,” Superintendent Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney said.

AEF Director Linda Flores Olson and AEF Board Members Dr. Charlotte Davis, Stacey Smith, Rose Avalos, Connie Esparza, and Goffney received the checks on behalf of the two organizations during the Aldine ISD Board Trustees meeting on December 14.

The Aldine Education Foundation was founded in 2012. Olson stated that the AEF endowment is valued at $1.5 million. The Lone Star College Foundation endowment for Aldine ISD students to attend Lone Star College is valued at $2.2 million.

“We are committed to empowering Aldine students to reach their highest potential. We are grateful to past and current AEF board members and staff who have made this achievement possible. Thank you for helping us turn dreams into reality. Your gifts and our board members ensure that this important work continues,” Olson said.
